Composition :

Natural latex from rubber trees:
The vulcanized part of our soles is made of 100% natural rubber. The rubber is extracted from rubber trees without harming the tree. The lower sole is made of 50% natural rubber.

Biodegradable organic leather
The upper fabric used for the OPEN is Bio Suede. Only 10% of all leather produced in the world is considered Bio.
Instead of tanning leather with chrome, organic leather is tanned with tannins extracted from trees. This means that our suede is 100% biodegradable and reaches complete disintegration after only 30 to 50 days according to ISO-20200.

Cork insoles
Our orthopedic insole is made of natural cork/natural latex and held together with natural jute. The cork is harvested from the cork oak tree. This process is harmless to the tree and the bark will grow back again. The insole is covered with 100% recycled microfiber and manufactured according to the requirements set out in the REACH regulation on chemicals of concern.

Organic cotton laces
The high quality off-white laces used on the OPEN are made of 100% natural GOTS certified organic cotton. The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the world's leading textile processing standard for organic fibres, comprising ecological and social criteria, supported by independent third-party certification of the entire textile supply chain.
